Book Launch: Navigating your love life while Queer and Black By Méfiré Diallo- 22 March, 6.00 p.m.

Join us to celebrate the launch of ‘Navigating your love life while Queer and Black’ By Méfiré Diallo

We are very excited to be hosting the brilliant Méfiré Diallo in a special in conversation event with Metropolis’ Director Ella.

Navigating Your (Love) Life While Queer & Black is a self-help book/memoire in which the author, Méfiré Diallo, uses her personal experience with the intention of supporting Black folks who are in romantic interracial relationships.

The event will begin with a short reading by Méfi and be followed by a conversation with Ella and a Q&A. The evening will conclude with book signings.

This event is for everyone regardless of gender or race/ethnicity, and will be centering queer people of colour.

All ticket sales will go towards supporting Mefi’s creative practice.

Méfiré Diallo

Méfi is a Black Queer Neurodivergent French Woman who moved to England 7 years ago. Méfi is a spoken word artist who has performed both in England and France. Her poetry speaks about the intersection of her identity and her experience as a migrant.

Additionally, Méfi is co-hosting a podcast (in French) called ‘Le Placard’ (The Closet), where she is receiving LGBTQ+ French individuals and celebrities to discuss about their implication in the community and how it is to live in France while being Queer.

Lately she has been campaigning to ask the UK government to adopt a new Genderless Menstrual Leave, a day per month or twelve days per year for anyone who menstruates regardless of their gender. The campaign was retweeted by Mermaids UK, shared by model/activist Rain Dove and appeared in Diva magazine https://divamag.co.uk/2021/02/16/new-campaign-launched-in-support-of-genderless-menstrual-leave/

Méfi was also voted number 2 of OUTstanding LGBT+ Future Leaders top 100 list for her work in supporting LGBTQ+ employees within the company she is working for https://outstanding.involverolemodels.org/poll/2020-top-100-lgbt-future-leaders/

And last but not least Méfi has created the first online community on Facebook for LGBTQ+ French people living in the UK which count already more than 186 members!
